2nd week in Taipei
Hey all-
I’m writing a new post now to tell you of what I did yesterday! My mom and I finally got to spend some time alone, so we went on a boat to Danshui, Taipei. There, we took pictures and had a dude draw a picture of each of us, although the picture the man drew looks nothing like us! I had a really fun time there, since the pier was kind of like an Old Town, Pasadena. And of course, I had spectacularly delicious food: rice vermicelli noodle with fish ball soup and some mango mousse cake, banana and kiwi on a stick, and puff ball in the afternoon. At night I went to Sogo, an 11-floor mall in Taipei. The Din Tai Fung was so crowded there, so instead my mom and I ate Korean food: I had bulgogi beef on a rice pot and my mom had mushroom noodle soup. Unfortunately, my camera battery is still being shipped to me from New York because I clumsily left it at Cynthia’s house, so I don’t have any pictures to share with you guys. I normally like to document my time with pictures, because I think pictures represent my story so much better than my words, so as soon as my package arrives, I will start to show you guys what I see in Taiwan!
Stay tuned!
1 Chronicles 16: 33-35
Then the trees of the forest will sing,
they will sing for joy before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Cry out, “Save us, O God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
that we may glory in your praise.”
xoxo,
Joanne

I arrived to my mom’s hometown in Hualien! The area is gorgeous, and I can’t wait to eat some foooood. I’m waiting for my camera battery, so until I get it, I am going to do other stuff.
So it’s like 12:20 pm right now, and I just finished eating lunch. Wow, never have I had such a great appetite! I went to eat at a restaurant near my hotel, and I found out the restaurant we ate at was featured in a Chinese newspaper. I bought red iced tea and noodle soup. I know the food sounds plain, but it was so good!

Ok, so it’s like 6:30 pm right now on June 3, 2008.
My family really knows how to eat! This evening, I ate green onion pie (or some may call it scallion pancake) and it was so good (better than some of the ones I’ve eaten in Los Angeles). I also finally received my camera battery this afternoon, but unfortunately I forgot to take it with me to dinner….so sorry…lol. I will bring it with me everywhere I go tomorrow morning. Good night everybody and thanks Cynthia for sending my package!
